NWS has not upgraded small craft advisory, expiring at 0900 this morning, but with latest marine zone forecast with steady 15-20 knots, gusts to 25 and waves 2-3 feet on the lower bay. We are staying put.
Strong northerly winds most of the day. |
White caps in the marina |
There is a West Marine store on the facility, so we walked up and bought day/night flares to be in compliance with USGC regs (boating) as we are now in coastal/ open waters. Day/night signaling requirements are different on inland waters. Serenity has a bunch of flares and 12 gauge illumination shells, but all expired. Will keep the expired spares though.
The local marine supplier also had my Yanmar oil filters in stock. Bought two. They were 1/2 the price Yanmar official distributors charge. Sweet!
The sustained Northerly winds, in combination with low tide has sucked the water out. Sailboats and the deeper draft boats are in the mud. Serenity got pretty close and probably touched the keel. Slight decrease in velocity as the tide turned and returns upward, Serenity is floating fine. It has been nearly a constant battle keeping the boat off of this wooden pier. The winds have pushed us hard against.
Beside Serenity: normally 3+ feet of water. Not today |
Forecast is very favorable for casting off the lines tomorrow morning. We are ready to head east.
