10 January, 2020 Crystal River anchorage #2 Buzzard Island

5 sm; 1.2 engine hours mostly no-wake speed
Worst wake ever&%$@*!   0600--having coffee...saw it coming, but did not see it coming.  Worst wake ever--threw everything all over the place.  Was trying to get from helm/cockpit seating to galley to put way coffee pot and thermos---did not make it slammed to deck, coffee pot flying and spilling grounds over the rug.  Wifi fell, did not break!  I knew we were in an anchorage where the work boats (crab/shrimp) would come and go, but.  Last night at sunset the outgoing shrimpers were kind and slowed and eased their wake.  Not so boats this morning.  Both were too close and making huge wakes.  Lesson learned.

We pulled up anchor and cruised five miles up river and have anchored in 6.5 feet of water at low tide.    U/w at 1045 and anchored @ 1145.  (map) Most of the trip at idle speed/no wake because this is a manatee zone.  Crystal river is feed by many springs so water temp remains constant and manatees winter in here when gulf waters cool.  MANATEE  Measured water temp was 71 degrees.  It is also very fresh, so with a bucket on a rope washed the salt spray off Serenity.  We are splashing Kaos and going paddling.    Crystal River National wildlife refuge
