1 February, 2020. Anchored by the lilly pads

One lock up, one swing bridge opening; 28 sm; 5.5 engine hours
Rain at breakfast, 66 degrees and overcast.
Pre-departure rain
Walked to Publix for freshies then checked out of marina.  U/W at 1015, easing slowly out of marina then into the Caloosahatchee River/ Okeechobee waterway.  No wake in many areas due to manatee zone.
Waterway
We passed the big power plant on the river which has a warm water discharge.   Manatees flock there in the winter when the gulf waters cool off.  Manatees are warm blooded and seek the warmth of springs or warm water discharges.  We have been to Manatee park during our winters in Naples.  We have paddled the kayaks with the Manatees.  Great fun. Manatee park  Must do if in area in the winter.

Lock up at Franklin lock.  Lift about 2 feet.  No other traffic and pretty expeditious.
Franklin lock looking east
Several bridges no height issues.  One swing road bridge with closed 9 foot clearance, we requested opening.  Prompt acknowledgement and opening and we continued east bound.  We have anchored in 15 feet water with a slight west bound current, but the westerly wind has overcome the current.  Cold front due later with wind shift to N-NW.  We are anchored (map) on north side of Caloosahatchee river so we should be ok, might swing toward middle of river but locks close at 1700 and swing bridges need three hours notice after hours.  Should be ok. Don't expect traffic after sunset. We are in fresh water--nice fresh water flush of the engine for 100+ miles

Nice travel day, interesting homes all along the waterway.  Many big and small boats at private docks.  Rain off/on most of day, but beginning to become partly cloudy later in the afternoon.  Forecast clearing, cooling and windier later tonight.

New alternator/regulator combination preformed fine.  No real challenge underway, test tomorrow after a night on the hook and consuming energy from the house bank batteries.
State of charge

House bank volts
Reserve/start battery volts
River surface water temperature 70.7 degrees.  Anchor set 1530.
1346.3 hobbs; 1652 SM elapsed
