13 November, 2019 Pickwick Late State Park Marina

Freezing outside--not much warmer inside

Pickwick Lake State Park Marina slip
At 0500 it was 16 degrees outside, 30 degrees in aft cabin with breathing condensation frozen on the side walls.  The helm station was 33 degrees and engine bay with heat lamp/100w bulb at comfortable 41 degrees.  We had left the little electric heater going all night in the galley = 45 degrees and water pipes good to go so far.  Sunny; forecast warming to 45 this afternoon.

The plastic bags and two plastic water bottles left on pier beside the boat are solid blocks of ice and ready for the coolers.  I like saving money.

We did hike yesterday, a couple of miles to the local post office and picked up a box from amazon we had dropped shipped.  Visited the park office and looked at the captive raptors (all injured birds rehabilitated and can not be released into the wild again).

We are touring Shiloh civil war battle field this morning.  (battle) We have hired a local guide who is picking us up at 0800.  Recommend watching the video available on YouTube.  (video)

Have received good information regarding our leaking stuffing box.  I have contacted a full service marina about 10 miles away, and intend to go there early tomorrow.  They have the tools, I can watch and there is also a lift if we have to take the boat out of water.  I will need to get my own special tools, because the stuffing box will leak again with use and age.
