We departed the marina today with our tour guide Larry DeBerry. Absolutely, one of the finest gentlemen I have had the pleasure of meeting and one of true historical knowledge and 180 year old roots in Shiloh. It was one of the best tours I have taken, mainly for the local knowledge and his life long domicile in Shiloh, TN
Larry's family goes back 180 years, owning land which was the battlefield. He has multiple ancestors who fought on this ground. An active 72 year old, he led us on a good pace in the cold air.

Did not take one picture today---I was captivated listing to Larry as he not only knew the battle history, but equally impressive with knowledge of the local people and their daily lives in 1862. Because his family was here. You have to see his private museum. On display was the largest collection of shell fragments and a large box with glass window full of civil war bullets from the battlefield. I have never seen such a large quantity on display.
If you get this way I highly recommend booking Larry DeBerry. Plan a trip, the state park is beautiful and the folks around here are real friendly.
Serenity heads down river toward Mobile tomorrow.
