Day 4 underway

No locks,  one tow, 6.9 engine hours, 50 SM
Not so chilly this am.  After our early breakfast we took a walk along the riverside park here in Clarksville.  Beautiful area as the sun was coming up.  Chilly 30 degrees at 0500 climbed to 37 upon departure.  64 degrees at anchor.  Water temperature 60.7 degrees.
Amazing contrails at 0700
U/W @ 0745--yahoo no fog.  Beautiful day on the river, clear, warming sun and south breeze strengthening to 10-12 MPH this afternoon.  Some current, we generally were making 8 MPH SOG.  One tug and a ferry that was crossing the river.
Ferry loading to cross Cumberland river.(details)

We planned to anchor off the river in Hickman creek near historical Ft Donelson national battlefield but two attempts to enter the channel saw about 5 feet below the hull and backing out saw less than 4 feet.  Three feet my min and I was worried about the lake/river drawdown during the night.  We continued down river and made a cautious approach into Saline Creek and the town of Bumpus Mills, TN. (details) We are anchored in 8 feet of water at 1436, securing for the night. (map) Great day traveling.  Boat and crew did well.
