One tow, lots of birds, 6.3 engine hours and 44 SM |
Safe anchorage last night. Stars were amazing, nearly dark sky quality. At revile, 45 degrees and cloudy. We were underway at 0735 making 7.3 MPH. 49 degrees with winds N @ 5 strengthening to 10-12 mid-day. Pretty quiet on the river today---actually we are following the historical Cumberland river bed which is now the USCOE navigation channel within Lake Barkley. Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake surround the landmass called Land Between the Lakes
(details). We observed a pair of bald eagles perched on a log/stump in the shallows. We observed with binoculars. Amazing recovery.

Passed by the Kentucky State Prison. An impressive castle like structure on the banks of the Cumberland River.

We dropped anchor at 1345 in 15 feet of water in Nickell recreation area
(map)at MM 33.4. Lake Barkley dam in sight. We put the dinghy in the water and rowed to shore and walked around and stretched our legs. Rowed back to Serenity and secured the dinghy. Soup and salad for supper we are good. Boat and crew did great today.
