17 July, 2021. In port Oscoda, MI

Canoe Marathon next weekend

Relaxing day.  Winds up and blowing across Lake Huron onto the eastern shore of Michigan.  Too rough for our travels today as expected.  Walked to town and the beach.  Sunny, breezy day.  Highs in upper 70s. A few boat projects, mainly cleaning and inspecting and ensuring all good to go.

Flowers have been beautiful in this part of Michigan

Still not sure why he is in Oscoda?

Toward supper time, we walked across the main highway running parallel to where we are staying to a tackle, bait and general store.  Our hosts recommended the local Lake Huron smoke fish.  We purchased a small quantity of smoked  salmon and white fish. The fish were excellent and did not disappoint.  We enjoyed our supper on a picnic table near Serenity.

We planned and reviewed tomorrow’s routing and weather.  Winds forecast to blow from the NW before shifting closer to north.  Should provide relative smooth ride as the land mass should offer us protection from the wind.  Will verify all weather and winds early tomorrow before making the go decision.
