Sunrise swimmers near Serenity looking for handout |
2 July. Crazy early morning storms. Black skies, roll cloud, but winds went a bit east of us, but it rained hard for nearly 4 hours. Glad to be secured to the marina dock. We just watched it rain and blow for the morning. My cousin and wife were driving over from Pittsburg. Around 1230 the skies cleared, we cleaned up and walked off the boat in cool air and clearing skies. Steve and Amelia arrived around 1330 and we headed to lunch. Great refreshing of memories of our childhoods and stories forgotten over the past 40-50 years. They were headed to a lake house for the weekend and need to grocery shop and off we went. Once shopping complete, Steve and Amelia dropped us back at the marina. Sun still shinning, we toured Serenity and visited more. Late in the afternoon they departed and not long after, the rains came back. Hard rain off and on all night.
3 July. Sunday began with clearing skies but strong winds. We hiked to the beach, noticed folks staking out their weekend beach real estate. Boat chores and cleaning took most of the afternoon. Supper and another hike within the park. Erie fireworks on the waterfront begins at 2200. Might hear, but we will be asleep. Weather and route study before bed. Looks very favorable for tomorrow and if winds and waves hold to forecast might be a distance record day.
