It was rolly this morning at sunrise as the wind and tide were in opposition. We planned a 0800 departure and anchor was raised precisely. Exiting south around a large shoal, we reentered the Cumberland river and proceeded with caution, aware that the large submarine base was to our port side. We need not miss our turn markers to continue NE on the AICW and not enter the very secure naval base. Navigation and position accurate we proceeded safely passed the base and continued along the Georgia coast. We had planned an alternate course should the St. Andrews sound be snotty. It was not and as recored above on our track, Serenity and crew actually poked our bow out into the Atlantic ocean. Due to serious shoaling, the route takes an eastward jaunt out the inlet and around numerous shoals before hugging the southern tip of Jekyll Island and resuming NW then NE parallel to the Island. It was fun, but there were serious breakers on the shoals just eastward of our route. We reached our planned anchorage just west of the Jekyll Island marina. Jekyll Island We set the hook at 1215, in 10 feet of 68 degree water. Securing Serenity we proceeded to load up Kaos and motor into the marina dinghy dock. For $20 bucks we got two bikes to ride around, showers, pool, hot tub, water and trash dump. We rode around for two hours enjoying the scenery and spending most of our time in the Historic district. Amazing "cottages" built in the early 1900s. My bike got a flat and the marina was so busy they could not come get us. So I left my bike at a bike rack and pushed POCs bike and we walked 1.5 miles back. First real showers since we left Jacksonville, so we took our time and used their hot water. A fresh bag of ice and dinghy ride back to Serenity completed out time ashore.

We grilled our farm raised beef round steaks, served with salad and chips. Excellent waterfront/on the water dinning as the sun slowly headed toward the western horizon. Travel day tomorrow as we continue to a new local and exploration of the Georgia coast.
