Up early to verify our travel weather, make sure POC is good to go and drink my coffee. Weather ok, slight chance of thunderstorm and rain this afternoon. High tide at the town docks per the tables and electronic charts was at 0834. We wanted to be away from the docks at 0800. Electrical lines secure, dock lines secure we pushed off at 0750 into a slight current on the bow with calm winds. Easy exit out of a crowded and tight space.

Darien shrimp boat fleet waiting for the season |
Passing the shrimp boat fleet and a little bit down river the ebb began and we road the accelerating current seven miles down the river, but soon thereafter, we were bucking currents again as we reentered the AICW. Got rocked by a few inconsiderate captains and their very large boats today; no radio call to pass nor slowing down. No real challenging navigation or skinny water today. Just cruising along to our anchorage. Crossed two large sounds, with smooth water and tidal current and winds in agreement.
Entering Walburg creek at AICW 623 mile mark we slowed and eased around a shoal but reentered deep water and proceeded to our desired anchorage. In about 11 feet of water we set the hook at 1400 just as the heavy rain, thunder and showers began. Good anchor set as we have already begun the tidal swing as the flood began. Chicken and rice cooking in the thermal pot. Buggy, but pretty decent anchorage for the day. Google maps call this Blackbeard creek, but the charts have Walburg creek.
